Anyone who’s looking for a job or who has ever been out of work knows it’s a full-time job just looking for a job.
Jobnet is an award winning programme developed by Jobcare to address the needs of a new kind of job-seeker in the Irish jobs market – the professionally skilled individual or graduate who, because of the current economic climate, is finding it difficult to find work, yet has much to offer a potential employer. Jobnet offers a professional environment tailored to the specific needs of this group. The programme empowers job-seekers to market their skills and learn to network effectively to find employment.
This excellent programme is coming soon to Mullingar, in association with Mullingar Chamber of Commerce and Christian Voices Together Mullingar – starting on 20th February 2015. The programme is designed around the needs of Professionals and Graduates who find themselves out of work for whatever reason, redundancy, career change, lack of applicable experience and so on.
In Jobcare, Jobnet runs from 9.30 to 1.30 on Friday mornings for seven weeks. There are five programmes per year. Jobnet focuses on personal branding, networking, goal setting and job seeking in a digital age. In addition to the large group setting, participants work in table groups of six to eight people. Each table group is supported by a volunteer facilitator whose role is to be a resource to the group. Participants are encouraged to view each Jobnet session as a day at work and to plan appropriately. Key messages in the programme are confidence-building, reinvention, up-skilling, network building, targeted job search and seeking out local opportunities.
Each Jobnet session begins with table time where participants share their week’s activities with their facilitator. That is followed by a presentation by a guest speaker, followed by practical workshops led by the Jobnet team. Time is set aside for open networking in the middle and at the end of each Jobnet session.

After so many years of basically giving out shite about everything, it’s nice at last to be able to compliment a member of the Oireachtas. I’m sure there are plenty of countries out there who’d be very happy to have a jobs Minister of Richard Bruton’s quality. I heard him speak at one of his focus group meetings last year in Longford and he has done way more good than he’s getting credit for. Some turn around in a short space of time. You’d have to hope he keeps it up.
Sorry my poor Dublin friends for rubbing ye’re noses in it. Not intentional except these reports remind me how much I don’t miss Dublin living. My idea of hell… When this happens in the country it hardly causes any traffic chaos. A clear cut reason to set up your office in the Midlands region if ever there was one.

Here’s a snapshot of 2013 year to date traffic analysis for the main website. Google still by far the biggest source of website traffic with hits from Indeed also notably on the increase. Roll on 2014. Great value in banner ads for January – email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you work in the Midlands and you look after your company’s website, you might be interested in arranging a link swap with Midlandjobs.ie. This aspect of search engine optimisation still features in all lists of top ten tips.
So what’s the point of it, how does it work and what do I need to do?
The point of it is that a link from Midlandjobs.ie to the website of your locally based company is seen by Google as a sort of endorsement of your website, and therefore your company, it’s products and services. You would then in turn set up a link from your website to Midlandjobs.ie, the more links we all have to one another, the better our ranking in Google. Simples.
To do this just send me an email to email@example.com including the details of where to find the link to Midlandjobs.ie and I will then in turn set up a link back to your site from Midlandjobs’ “Useful Links” page. I’d be more than happy to try to help boost traffic to your site and it makes good sense.
Jobs Content Feed
If you are interested in including a section on your website which shows details of local employment vacancies we can also easily set this up. For details of where to find this link to Midlandjobs, see our section on Free Jobs Feed
Here’s a vacancy which was only added this morning to the Midlandjobs.ie site and already it has been picked up and listed by Indeed.ie. – See pic below 4th listing from the top – Trainee Baker. Inadvertently this enables the smaller job-boards such as Midlandjobs.ie to compete with the bigger players.
It therefore gives the local employer considerably more value listing their vacancies on Midlandjobs.ie and gives them a great value opportunity to compete for talent with the larger employers with the big ad budgets to use the Rolls Royce job-boards . See other aggregator sites including JobRapido.com, careerjet.ie, jobs.trovit.ie and irelandjobs77.com which all re-list Midlandjobs’ vacancies.
