A New Challenge for Recruiters in 2026
The introduction of AI Overviews in Google Search results during summer 2025 has had a disruptive impact on website traffic worldwide. As search behaviour continues to change, many businesses are seeing reduced visibility for their online content.
This shift has the potential to significantly affect the recruitment sector, which relies so heavily on online traffic to generate job applications. As recruitment activity ramps up at the start of a new year, local employers may now need alternative ways to ensure their job vacancies continue to be seen by the right audience — namely, suitably qualified local jobseekers.
Given the importance of consistent applicant flow to Midlands employers, this is a developing situation that warrants close attention in the weeks and months ahead. Notably, this challenge did not exist at this time last year.
The MidlandJobs.ie Solution — Social BOOST Campaigns
To address this emerging issue during the busiest period of the recruitment calendar, MidlandJobs.ie is launching Social BOOST Campaigns — a structured social media pay-per-click advertising option for employers.
While MidlandJobs.ie has previously supported social promotion on an ad-hoc basis, this new offering allows employers to formally purchase a Social BOOST campaign directly through our product page.
Initially, campaigns will focus on Facebook / Meta / Instagram, where local jobseeker engagement remains strong. Additional platforms may be introduced over time based on demand and customer feedback.
Next Steps for Employers
This product is ideally suited to employers with urgent or high-priority hiring needs.
To maintain campaign effectiveness, the number of live Social BOOST campaigns will be limited to six at any one time. Each campaign will run for five days, operating on a rotational basis.
Pricing is dynamic, reflecting demand, and will be clearly displayed on the MidlandJobs.ie product page. Campaign costs will range from €150 to a maximum of €500, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
